World of Work

In order to succeed in the transition from school or college to the world of work, young people should have a good understanding of business requirements and the skills and attitudes needed for a rewarding career. 

By working with schools, GE volunteers can help students better understand which skills are most valued and what a business expects from its employees.

Projects such as developing interview techniques through mock interviews or conducting a workshop on cv writing are ways that business volunteers can help a young person reach that vital first step on the career ladder.

GE volunteers are also receptive to ideas from schools about other ways to help.
