Get Involved

GE’s volunteering programmes offer something for everyone, from senior leaders to new hires.

If you are a GE employee or contractor and haven’t done so already, log in to the GE volunteers portal today
to register your interest.

Various GE sites in the UK offer different programmes depending on business priorities and the needs of local schools and colleges. Speak to your local volunteering leader to find out what is planned and let them know how you would like to get involved.

What is Expected

Time, expertise and people are valuable resources. Financial resources are carefully managed and human resources should be approached in the same way.

GE’s “Time 2 Give” * volunteer guidelines provide a framework for the amount of time an employee might spend on volunteering activities.   However, employees need managerial approval before embarking on a project and the time taken and given must not impact on business priorities.

All volunteers working with young people will complete a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) Disclosure form for their own protection as well as the schools.  There is more information about CRB checks in the iCount Training Materials

And most importantly, if a commitment is made to a school and its pupils, that commitment must be kept.  Think about the message it would send to a young person about you and the world of work if their volunteer didn’t turn up!

* GE Volunteers and Contractors only, you can view the guidelines on the GE UK Volunteers Support Central site.
