Vision My Future is GE's coaching programme aimed at groups of young people aged 11-14. It will broaden a students outlook on life beyond their immediate experiences and give them the self-belief that they can control their future.
The programme has three 90 minute modules each containing lots of interactive exercises:
Goals - defining success, the important of having goals and how to set them
Visioning - what is a vision, why is visioning important, creating a vision, making plans
Turning the vision into reality - self-belief, overcoming negative inner voices, feeling good, personal strengths
GE Volunteers are given full training and support material to deliver the programme over a few weeks or all on one day. Each student receives their own workbook which they can use during the programme and keep for use in the future.
The Vision My Future programme also contains a DVD of James Caan from Dragons' Den talking about live skills and routes to success.
The mentoring programme is more suited to students aged 15 and 16 and involves one-to-one sessions working with the young person on their issues or just giving them another adult to talk to. GE can provide comprehensive training and support material for the school and the business volunteer.
