Mentoring

Before starting a mentoring programme the school and  business must have a shared understanding of what mentoring means.

Most schools have “Learning Mentors” – a totally different role from that of business mentor.

It is also worth establishing the aim of the programme.  Does it have a specific purpose, for example increasing the number of young people who move on to Further Education, or is it about raising aspirations or providing an adult role model.

The material in this section will help to set the programme up for success.
